The vineyard/the winemaking:
Grapes come from a vineyard called Gesamelike Wei, which means communal pasture – the site was originally used for grazing by nomadic trek farmers. The current vineyard was established in 2016, with bush vines planted on decomposed granite soils at an elevation of 250m. The fruit is hand harvested and destemmed to a stainless-steel tank, where fermentation takes place naturally. After 3 days on skins the wine is gently pressed and aged in neutral vessels until bottling.
We are a close family business and are currently in our second generation. We are based on our natural lavender farm, Yorkshire Lavender in the North Yorkshire countryside.
So why wine?
With a member of our staff, Timi, a trained sommelier; it seemed crazy to let that enthusiasm and experience go to waste.
Wine starts in the ground! Just like lavender the correct soil, conditions and care are vital to grow excellent grapes to make exceptional wine.
Our commitment to our natural lavender farm along with Timi’s enthusiastic expertise has led to a developing interest in natural, organic, bio-dynamic wines.
