Made using Burgundy’s other white grape, this wine shows off a lighter side to the region. With a focus on crisp acidity, floral and citrus notes and a gentle mouthfeel the Aligoté offers both refinement and refreshment.
Region: Rully, Côte d'Or, Burgundy
Tasting notes/pairing options: Fresh citrus, white flowers and a creamy leesiness on the nose. Citrus and green apple on the palate with saline and citrus peel pushing through, into a long and balanced finish.
The producer/the viticulture:
Mischief and Mayhem Wines is the creation of Brits Michael and Fiona Ragg and their friend Michael Twelftree. In 2003, after working for Berry Bros & Rudd wine merchants in London for almost ten years, Michael and Fiona moved to Aloxe Corton, just north of the lovely town of Beaune, in the Cote d’Or region of Burgundy. They both visit all of the vineyards they use to check upon vine health and vineyard development throughout the season; this allows them to ensure that their wines truly reflect the terroir-specific nature that is Burgundy. They also advocate sustainable viticulture, low yields and hand harvesting. In the winery, there is only light use of oak, so as not to overpower the delicate characters of the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.
