With the sun shining, the pimm’s prepared and our sunscreen on, we should be ready to enjoy our garden in the summer months.

One of the adverse effects of this glorious sunshine is the increase of flies, midges and other pesky little bugs.

There are various products on the market, but if you are looking for a more natural way to ward off these critters Lavender is a fantastic alternative.

You can do this in several ways. Either add some lavender oil to distilled water in a spray bottle, shake well and you are ready to be bug proofed!

You can also add dried lavender to vinegar for an instant bug spray. Alternatively you can add Lavender Oil to any Base oil and dab the mixture onto your wrists, behind your ears and on your ankles.

Another bonus is if you have a dog they too can be protected from not only flies but also fleas!

So instead of having to continuously swat the area around you while you’re trying to relax, why not try Lavender as an alternative, not only is it natural but you will smell great too!
