With the sun finally making an appearance its that time of year when we hunt at the back of our cupboards for the sunscreen. Once we have toasted ourselves in the glorious sunshine, it is inevitable that we will get a little burnt, this is due to the fact that it is so rare that the sun graces us with its presence that in our rush we occasionally forget how warm the English sun can be.
So, if you have been unlucky enough to get a little burnt, fear not we have the perfect after sun recipe that you can make at home. The beauty of making your own products is that you know exactly what is going into them and you can tailor them to your preferred scent.
Now onto the fun part, creating your own after sun.
What you will need
4 ounces of your favourite plain, unscented lotion
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
2 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops chamomile essential oil
2 drops peppermint essential oil
A jar with a lid for storage
What you do:
Mix ingredients together well using a utensil of your choice – I used a wooden stirrer.
Transfer into your storage container.
There you have it – a deliciously scented after-sun lotion to make now and store on your beauty shelf until a day you really need it! For an extra cooling effect on skin, store this in the refrigerator.
