Ginger, Lemon & Lavender Festive Hot Toddy
Serves: 1 large glass or 2 small ones
Christmas is hands down one of my favourite holidays, spending time with family and friends is the best part, but a close second is the delicious food and drinks that can be created at this time of year.
Over the next few weeks we will be sharing our favourite drinks, nibbles and food for the festive season, from cranberry, brie and lavender mini parcels to the perfect lavender gin and tonic.
Today we’re sharing a delicious hot toddy recipe that will warm your soul! This is the perfect treat when you’re busy wrapping presents, getting things ready on Christmas morning or just because! You can also add some dried lavender buds to decorate, which really does add that special touch.
Now onto the fun part, creating this warming and festive hot toddy.
2 cups water
Fresh juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons lavender buds
1 teaspoon ginger (or a small peeled knob of fresh ginger)
1 to 2 tablespoons honey or agave nectar, to taste
2 green tea bags or 2 tablespoons loose green tea (or choose your favourite herbal tea instead)
Combine water, lemon juice, lavender, ginger, sweetener, and tea bags in a saucepan. Bring to boil. Remove from heat and steep for at least 5 minutes.
Strain the brew and pour into a cup or glass. Enjoy warm or cold.
